Jessica Bjoeredahl

UX Content Designer/Strategist | Speaker | Mentor

I’m a word nerd with a passion for helping people, which is why I dove right in when my first user experience career opportunity came about. My approach to UX content starts with putting the focus where it should be: the user. After all, it's right there in the name. I look at users as people who come from different backgrounds, have different needs, and have lived different experiences from each other and from myself. So, I know need to take myself out of the equation and be adaptive to the variety of needs and problems users may face. I collaborate with designers, developers, product managers, researchers, and others to then find the solutions that will best suit said users.

My professional career has included opportunities to learn about marketing, technical writing, UX/UI, accessibility, and so much more through various complex fields like insurance, cybersecurity, finance, and digital adoption. In every position, I’ve applied my versatility, compassion, and creativity to help find unique solutions to complex problems. Moreover, I love sharing the knowledge I’ve gathered over the years with people throughout the industry, which I have done by speaking at conferences, writing blog posts, and even being a guest on a podcast.

My keys to successful content

  • Creativity

Language isn’t an exact science, and there’s no one-size-fits-all solution. It’s critical to get creative and not be afraid to fail.

  • User-focus

If users don’t love it, they won’t use it.

  • Collaboration

Useful, intuitive, enjoyable experiences are built when content, design, development, and product management work together.

  • Agility

Innovation and iteration make for constant improvement and quicker turnaround.

  • Research

Every audience is different. What works for one audience may not work for another.

  • Accessibility/Inclusivity

Good UX is for everyone, regardless of culture, race/ethnicity, background, status, disability, gender, or sexuality.
